G SCALE MEET AT STEAMTOWN
FEBRUARY 19, 2005
The Pennsylvania GRS had their 2005 Annual Winter Meet at the Trolley
Museum at Steamtown in Scranton PA.  The first thing we saw was this G scale
layout running around this tiny little electric locomotive.  It was bitter cold and
windy outside.
Also outside was a whimsical railroad, including this 0-2-0 locomotive.
Inside was the PGRS modular layout, complete with its wide curves and loaded with
nice 1:20 steam locomotives and matching trains.  Here's a doubleheader
approaching Tom and Dick.  At their feet is the Budd Tote.  To the left is a sales
area for Warrior Run Trains.
VIEW FROM THE TROLLEY - Here's that train again as seen from inside a 1:1 scale
trolley car.
COUPLE OF BUDDS - John Summer of East Brunswick NJ brought his
battery powered RDC, and we ran mine and his singly and as a pair amongst the
narrow gauge steam locomotives.  John's car has a lit interior and puts out a lot
of smoke.
We took a side trip to see the Tunkhannok Viaduct at Nicholson, PA.  The Budd
Car posed on a roadside display along Route 11.  This impressive bridge was built
by the Lackawanna RR in 1915, at the time the largest concrete structure in the
world.
The passengers in the Budd Car have a magnificent view as it halts on the model
viaduct.
