BUILDING A WYE FOR CHARLOTTE
SEPT. 7, 2008
[home]
Once the connector track was built, Charlotte said, "That's nice, but the trains have to back up to get back in the house.  If you built a wye, they could run engine first...I really want you to build me a wye!"  So the wye appeared at the top of my "Honey-do" list.
The new turnouts are installed, and Honey supervises while I install the 2x4 boards.
BEFORE - three weeks ago, there was a clean patch of lawn, just waiting for a wye!
AFTER - The wye is completed now, and Smokey watches from a distance.
FIRST TRAIN - The Budd Car checks out the new trackage.  No derailments!
OVERALL VIEWS - Here are two views of the Kidney Branch and its new wye.  The view on the right clearly shows the kidney shape of the loop, which had been built on the edge of an existing garden.  The loop is 80 feet in length.
