BUILDING A TURNOUT - PAGE 3
JANUARY 9, 2009
Now it's time to make the second point rail.  Here we're
using the bandsaw to cut into the head and base of the
rail.
After a couple minutes of cutting, here is the
result.  This saw cut has saved a LOT of filing!
...another view of the newly cut rail.
At the workbench, I'm using a hacksaw to cut the head of the rail on the other
side.
...and now, lots of filing.
Here's what the end of the point rail looks like when I'm done filing.
The new point rail is on the left, fitting snugly against the stock rail.
Here's the new turnout, almost finished.  It needs a throwbar, frog
adjustment, and guardrails.  Maybe I can install it tomorrow!
